We want people with gusto on our teams. People with gusto have infectious enthusiasm. They have energy, zeal, and excitement that people naturally want to follow.

“Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord;” - Romans 12:10-11 NKJV

• Apollos was known for his zeal for sharing the gospel.

John Maxwell, in his book, “The Five Levels of Leadership” denotes the second level of leadership as the “permission” level of leadership.

• Level 1 (Position): lowest level; by appointment, doesn’t work with volunteers because follow only who they want to.
• Level 2 (Permission): by relationship, follow because they trust you, trust because you like/value them and create a positive environment.
• Level 3 (Production; results build credibility); level 4 (people dev; reproduce leaders), level 5 (pinnacle; longevity and legacy)

What does it mean to have gusto?

You have an enthusiasm for what you do and a likability that makes people want to follow.

• People with gusto have high relational intelligence and attract people to join in their mission.

• Are you making friends and inviting them to join the team?

• If you’re a team lead, are you rallying people?

Eventually, we’re going to staff people. We don’t staff people to do ministry. We staff people to rally and equip them to do ministry work.
